The country’s outstanding consumer products and companies, as well as exemplary achievers in public service, entertainment, business and other fields  will be honored during the 25th Annual CONSUMERS CHOICE  AWARDS which highlights the 29th Joint Mother’s Day & Father’s Day Awards  on June 21, 2009 (Sunday) at the Gateway Oriental Mandarin Suites. Araneta Center, Quezon City, Philippines.

CARILLO, Huwarang Ama for Spiritual Leadership, will deliver the Invocation.  Former Senate President Manuel B. Villar will be conferred Huwarang Ama Father’s Day Award for Public Service.

FATHER’S DAY HISTORY
“Handog Kay Itay” is the country’s pioneer and most prestigious Father’s Day event since 1980 organized by the National Mother’s Day & Father’s Day Council and Ideal Parents & Family Foundation (IPFF) headed by civic leader-journalist Jonathan Navea who was responsible for lobbying Presidential Proclamation No. 266 issued by former President Corazon C. Aquino superseding the Proclamation No. 107 issued by the late President Ferdinand Marcos declaring Mother’s Day and Father’s Day as national events in the Philippines.   Father’s Day and Mother’s Day were unknown in the Philippines until both groups headed by Navea organized major civic projects related to the celebrations.
